The first days of January 2021 the instrumentation of the first site of the ground-level monitoring network of the TROPOMAG project was completed. It is located on Salina island, in the volcanic Aeolian archipelago of the southern Mediterranean Sea.

The site is equipped with 2 dataloggers, mounted inside solar radiation shields, acquiring hourly data of instantaneous atmospheric pressure and air temperature. They are located at different altitudes: at sea level (SMS) and on the top of Mt. Fossa delle Felci (MFF), the highest peak of the island (950 m a.s.l.). The network is completed by a third station (LEN), managed by the Sicilian Regional Agro-Meteorological Information System (SIAS, http://www.sias.regione.sicilia.it/home.htm), which acquires data at an intermediate altitude (310 m a.s.l.).

Data from the network will be used for individuating decoupling of ground level atmospheric pressures, measured at different elevations, possibly driven by geomagnetic storms.
