Seismic hazard remains a major challenge across the CEI region, particularly in the Western Balkans where active faults are still poorly documented. Through IDASH, partners share expertise, tools, and best practices to strengthen the assessment of seismic potential and improve earthquake preparedness across borders. The project promotes advanced approaches such as earthquake geology, paleoseismology, and geodesy to better identify and characterize active faults, estimate earthquake recurrence, and refine seismic hazard models. By improving knowledge of where and how future earthquakes may occur, IDASH supports more reliable hazard assessment, stronger early warning capabilities, and better protection of communities, infrastructure, cultural heritage, and economies.
