Geological Survey of Slovenia (GeoZS) is a government-established research institute that gathers, interprets, and shares geological data. Through scientific programs and research projects, it delivers public services in geological mapping, hazard assessment (natural and anthropogenic), and expertise in groundwater, mineral resources, geothermal energy, and geological heritage. GeoZS has an expert team for identifying and characterizing active faults as input for seismic hazard assessments, part of national and international projects. Methods include earthquake geology tools such as tectonic geomorphology, near-surface geophysics, Quaternary geology, and paleoseismology. The team built the Slovenian fault database for SHMS21 and contributed to the European Seismic Source Model (EFSM20).
