The Institute of Hydrometeorology and Seismology (IHMS) of Montenegro is the public authority for monitoring and analyzing seismicity, weather and climate data, sea state, air and water quality. It conducts natural sciences research and promotes bilateral/multilateral cooperation. The Seismology Sector operates the national seismic network, collects and archives seismic and geodetic data, analyzes weak and strong motion. It evaluates seismic hazard, supports national seismic zonation, providing input for building design and planning. The Sector engages in EU seismology-engineering seismology projects, e.g., Adria Array, UCPM Project BALANCE, NATO projects BSHAP 1/2, SHARE. IHMS acts as stakeholder and partner in developing and implementing Montenegrin disaster risk reduction (DRR) policy.
