EO monitoring & data processing Modules (M) description:
- TOP_MON (Topographic Monitoring) [INGV] – Status: Federated
Generates high-resolution Digital Surface Models (DSMs) and quantifies surface elevation changes over volcanic and slope areas by processing Very High Resolution (VHR) optical satellite data (e.g., Pléiades Neo). - CL_HOTSAT (Thermal Anomaly Detection) [INGV] – Status: Integrated
Detects and quantifies thermal anomalies using multispectral sensors (including MTG FCI and MSG SEVIRI). It estimates volcanic effusion rates (Time-Averaged Discharge Rates) in near-real-time to dynamically feed lava flow simulation models (GPUFLOW).
- VOLCLOUDS (Volcanic Cloud Monitoring) [INGV] – Status: Integrated
Detects, tracks, and quantifies volcanic ash and sulfur dioxide (SO2) plumes using geostationary (e.g., MTG FCI, MSG SEVIRI) observations, providing essential eruption parameters for dispersion modeling (FALL3D).
- kinesIS (Wide-Area InSAR Deformation Mapping) [AUTh] – Status: Integrated
Provides large-scale ground deformation mapping from Sentinel-1 radar stacking. It measures Line-of-Sight (LoS) displacement rates with quantified uncertainties and derives 3D motion decomposition (vertical and East-West components). - SNAPPING (High-Density InSAR Time-Series) [AUTh] – Status: Integrated
Extracts dense, long-term ground displacement time series from Sentinel-1 and radar TPM missions (e.g., TerraSAR-X, SAOCOM). It includes gap-filling and short-term prediction algorithms to ensure continuity in ground motion monitoring.
