Gerardo Romano is an Associate Professor in Applied Geophysics at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Department of Earth and GeoEnvironmental sciences.

His research activity is mainly focused on the application of electromagnetic (EM) techniques for a multi-scale 4D subsoil characterization (from the near surface up to crustal depth) and on a methodological improvement of EM data analysis. According to this, his research activity can be divided into 3 different research lines: 1) exploration, 2) monitoring and 3) methodological development.

The exploration research line, pursued by integrating electromagnetic exploration techniques such as the Geoelectrical and the Magnetotelluric (MT) methods, concerns the multi-scale subsoil characterization in the framework mainly of hydrogeological, crustal and archaeological studies.

The monitoring research line is focused on the study of the applicability of the MT method to the monitoring of areas with a high natural/seismic hazard.

The methodological research line involves the analysis of the time series related to geophysical and environmental processes, by means of the application of advanced statistical methods like.
