Marianna Balasco is a researcher at the Institute of Methodologies for Environmental Analysis (IMAA) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR).

Her research activity deals with methodological and experimental aspects of the magnetotelluric technique focused on a) management and analysis of multiparametric acquisition systems to monitoring possible fluctuations correlated with the seismicity; b) integration with others exploration techniques in order to characterize crustal geological to obtain a multiscale depth resolution of subsoil. MT investigation has been applied in a several context, in particular in areas prone to natural risks (volcanic and seismogenic areas, geothermal fields).

She is currently involved, as scientific referent (co-partner IMAA-CNR) for the INGV in the GRINT Project - PON “Ricerca e Innovazione 2014-2020” in the O.R. 6 Osservazioni magnetiche and she is also participating in the PRIN project “Fluids Detection and tracking of crustal fluid by multi-parametric methodologies and technologies”. She is responsible of a magnetotelluric monitoring station that is part of a network of multiparametric stations (HAVO – High Agri Valley geophysical Observatory).
