Carmine Minopoli is a Researcher at Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia “Osservatorio Vesuviano”. The research activity has been mainly focused on the geochemistry of volcanic-hydrothermal fluids, comprising the theoretical aspects of chemical and isotopic processes in hydrothermal environments. Research aimed at understanding the thermodynamic conditions and the origin of the fluids, included volcanic systems of Vesuvio, Campi Flegrei, Ischia, Panarea, Vulcano, Pantelleria. The estimation and the understanding of the CO2 earth degassing and the energy associated, both by diffuse gas flux from the soil that affects volcanic and geothermal areas, and the flux of deeply derived CO2 that interests wide areas forming regional anomalies in the Apennines (Italy), have been also investigated. Since 1996, SC has been involved in the geochemical surveillance of the campanian volcanoes (Vesuvio, Campi Flegrei and Ischia).
