Linking surface Observables to sub-Volcanic plumbing-system: a multidisciplinary approach for Eruption forecasting at Campi Flegrei caldera (Italy).
The Department Strategic Project on the Phlegraean Fields, aims to correlate the
geochemical and geophysical variations measured during volcanic unrest with the magma dynamics at depth, tracked thanks to the study of representative events in the eruptive history of the caldera via natural, experimental and numerical approaches. This information can be fundamental to define the source of the unrest (magmatic or non-magmatic) and to forecast the time and size of a future eruption.
