At the end of 2002, the Stromboli volcano began one of its major documented eruptive activities. Piergiorgio Scarlato wrote an article for the INGV Vulcani channel, in which he passionately remembers those events. That eruption is particularly interesting, in that it spread awareness that the Stromboli volcano is capable of producing very hazardous tsunamis.
